The Art of Golf presents an evening that will take your golf game to the next level! For the first time ever under one roof see this world-renowned golf instructional team live and in person. Hank Haney, Marius Filmalter & Keith Kleven will offer you the tools & techniques that helped the top golfers in the world.
Hank Haney, a 1977 graduate of Tulsa University, developed his desire to teach while majoring in education. He began his career studying under well-known teaching professionals Jim Hardy and John Jacobs. After working as a head professional or director of instruction at several large golf operations (PGA West in La Quinta/California, Stonebridge Golf & Country Club in Dallas/Texas, Sweetwater Country Club in Houston/Texas and Pinehurst Golf Schools in North Carolina), Haney opened his own golf instruction centre, the Hank Haney Golf Ranch, in 1991.
Haney has taught more than 200 touring professionals from the PGA, LPGA, European, Japanese and Asian Tours, including Mark O’Meara and Tiger Woods. Haney has received numerous awards, including the National PGA Teacher of the Year in 1993, and was elected North Texas PGA Section Teacher of the Year five times (1989 – 1993). Haney is a member of the NIKE Golf Advisory Staff, he writes for Golf Digest Magazine, does a weekly segment on ESPN Radio, and has written three successful golf books and produced six instructional DVD’s.
MARIUS H. FILMALTER
Putting Coach
Marius Filmalter is a professional golf instructor who currently resides in Plano, Texas. Mr. Filmalterspent time on the PGA Tour in South Africa during the 1980’s. Since leaving the pro golf circuit, Mr. Filmalter has devoted his time and energies researching influences on the performance of golfers and in particular, motor strategy disturbances such as the yips. Together with Professor Ernst Poeppel of the University of Munich and other scientists, Mr. Filmalter helped develop new and more effective methods to facilitate the proper communication between body and mind. As an outgrowth of his studies, Mr. Filmalter was a prime contributor to the development of the SAM PuttLab and, more recently, the Company’s TOMI product line. Mr. Filmalter has coached many of the top U.S.and International tour players on their putting techniques. In addition, he recently completed a two-year comprehensive study on the yips syndrome in collaboration with the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Filmalter graduated from the University of the Orange Freestate in South Africa with a Bachelor Procurationis degree (Law) and also studied at the University of Munich where he spearheaded research that contradicted numerous theories regarding the yips.
KEITH KLEVEN
Physical Therapist
Keith is a founding member of the American Hand Society and the Sports/Physical Therapy section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He has also enjoyed being an officer in several sections of the National APTA, as well as the Nevada chapter of APTA, and received the prestigious Ron Peyton Award, Sports Section of the APTA. He served as program director and consultant for numerous programs in the states of Nevada and Washington, consultant to the Hilton Corporation, Eastern Airlines, Southern California Edison and Trans World Airlines and has been on the editorial board for several professional journals.
In addition to being a physical therapist, Keith is also a certified athletic trainer. His education and background has led him to working with world-class athletes, dancers and performers, both at the local and national level. He was trainer/therapist for the United StatesGymnastics, junior and senior national teams, 1984 Olympic Games, World Championships junior and senior, and United States Boxing team, taking him to four different continents in the world. He was also Mike Tyson’s and Larry Holmes’ therapist/trainer for 8 years and continues to work with athletes such as Greg Maddux, Mark O’Meara, Jonathan Byrd, Tiger Woods and numerous other professional and amateur athletes in and out-of-state. However, one of Keith’s greatest joys is working with the UNLV golf team for the past 15+ years.
In 2005, Keith was inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame. He continues to work full time in his private practice in Las Vegas, as well as traveling with professional athletes around the world.
